For the first time, Marguerite Robinson’s seminal work, The Microfinance Revolution: Sustainable Finance for the Poor is available for sale in Spanish. The first of a three-volume series, the Microfinance Revolution focuses on the shift in microfinance from government and donor-subsidized credit systems to self-sufficient microfinance institutions providing voluntary savings and credit services. It draws together rich empirical data and institutional experiences from microfinance institutions in 17 different countries to explore the reasons for the massive gap between the low level of microfinance generally available and the extensive worldwide demand for such services. It also evaluates the main streams of literature on the theory of microfinance, and contrasts them with the ways microfinance markets work.
